Really Needing a Shot in The Arm Right About Now
I don't believe I have ever been this tired, and this has been my normal state of existence for a few weeks now. Also, I'm 46 and isn't this being wiped out for a week at a time supposed to, I don't know, slow down? Nope.
But I'm more than post-PMS-tired (euphemism for the squeamish) right now. I'm exhausted, and can't get enough sleep and can't get to sleep and can't stay asleep. This is not a good combo.
And I have a three-day weekend with two not-so-small but quite young humanoids, which means there won't be any letting up on the exhaustion front. Oh, except the pool opens which means I will strap that life-jacket on DestructoGirl, and try to sound appropriately prideful and impressed when TigerGrrl says: "Mama, watch this!"*
I'll catch some cat naps while floating in the pool, maybe?
I'm almost missing the terrifed and afraid-for-what-might-happen-next days of early separation. The adrenaline gets you going, definitely. Just trying to keep stocked in ramen noodles just doesn't have the same motivating affect. But floating in a pool? I can manage that.
*The other day, TigerGrrl was trying to show me some impressive Leggo edifice she had constructed and said: "Mama, don't just say 'Mmm-hmmm', okay?" So I have my marching orders.

Dear Foily,
It's called "stress", honeybun. You've got to do something about it. It's a cyclical thing - the more stressed you get, the tireder you become and the less you're able to sleep so the more stressed you become and......
You gotta make "me time" and have breaks. Been in the same mess myself on many occasions and I haven't got a uterus which plays up every month (well, not one of my own, although I've been conjoined to some in my life!).
Take care of yourself!
I hear ya! I was trying to catch some zzzs on the couch. I even put in a movie to facilitate my mental break...but although I had the alpha waves going, I never really fell asleep b/c I had two little ones running up to me going "MOMMY AKE UP"!!!!!
Not conducive to a little cat nap.
You've got to love kids for keeping you in line. Sounds a lot like my daughter.
Reg: You really think it's stress? Why would I be stressed? Financial woes, divorce, single-parenthood (actually, the Insane Ex is in the picture, but tends to make things harder, not easier, by well, not being sane and all that), a career to resurrect, etc. Who would be stressed?
Yes, in other words. That sounds about right.
Laurita: The most dreaded sentences in the English language: "Mama, watch this!", "Did you see that, Mama?", "I did it.", and the absolute clincher: "Mama, I made a mess." (Or, alternatively, "Mama, I bwoke it.")
RainyPete/MUTMC: Keeping me in line? Or engaging in a cute but really quite sadistic sleep deprivation experiment?
